On Wednesday, 31st aug, a stampede resulted in the death of over 600 people. This was on the A'immu bridge leading to the Kadhimiya Mosque when throngs of pilgrims took fright after a deadly mortar attack on the shrine - Over 600 people were drowned, trampled or crushed to death as they surged acrosst he bridge in north west Baghdad, many of them falling into the river Tigris below.
